Q.In WinCE 2.0, all of the event times previously entered in the calendar get altered when I change from "home time" to "visiting time" or vice versa. When traveling, this is obviously not the correct time for the appointments. Is this normal?

A.Yes. This is a feature. The idea is that you would want your schedule to always reflect correctly the time you have in your home city. So if you had something occurring at a particular time each day or weekly, you would want your schedule to accurately reflect that, even if you are in another city. If the HPC moved the calendar entry by a few hours, then it wouldn't reflect correctly what is actually taking place somewhere else.

Q.How do I perform a soft reset of the A-20?

A.Press the RESET button with the stylus. Then turn on the power.

Q. How do I perform a full reset of the A-20?

A. While holding CTRL and ALT, press the RESET button with the stylus. Then tap the screen to perform the full reset, or press the RESET button again to perform a soft reset.

Q. How do I adjust the contrast?

A. Hold ALT and press the keys.

Q. How do I toggle Num Lock?

A. Hold FN and press CTRL.

Q. How do I change the amount of time that the backlight stays on before turning off automatically?

A. Go to Control Panel, double-click Display, and then click the Backlight tab.

Q. How do I connect the A-20 to a printer?

A. You must use the included cable along with the appropriate adapter as follows: If the printer you are connecting uses a parallel port, you need a serial to parallel adapter. If the printer uses a serial port, you need a null-modem cable.

Q. Why is there an audible buzz from the backlight.

A. Not all units have an audible buzz. We do not have a correction at this time. (12/30/97).

Q. How can I maximize storage space in my handheld?

A. If you are cramped for storage space, you can disable the Recycle Bin and gain extra space for storing your documents. To do so, hold down the [Alt] key while you tap the Recycle Bin icon and then select the Empty Recyle Bin command from the shortcut menu. Once Windows CE empties the Recyle Bin, access the shortcut menu again and this time select the Properties command. When the Recycle Bin Properties sheet appears select the "Do not move files to the Recyle Bin, remove immediately on delete" check box. Then, tap OK.

Q. When I connect the Cassiopeia to the desktop PC (usually with Windows NT), a dialog box appears on the handheld PC that asks for the username, password, and domain. What do I enter here?

A. Enter the same username and password you use to log onto the desktop computer, and leave domain blank. If that doesn't work, enter "guest" (without the quotes) for the username, and leave the password and domain blank.

Q. I cannot dial out to the Internet on a Windows 95 computer while the Cassiopeia is connected.

A. Install the Dial-Up Networking 1.2 upgrade, which can be found on the Desktop. Software for Windows CE CD-ROM under Optional Components.

Q. Where do I find the diagnostics for the A20 that is mentioned in the Service Manual?

Q. With Windows CE 2.0, I get an error that ActiveSync can't synchronize with the corresponding components on the device.

A. If this has occurred shortly after restoring an old backup file, then there might be a problem with the backup file. Perform a full reset, but do not restore your old backup. You should then be able to synchronize.

Q. What does Windows CE Services 2.1 do that version 2.0 didn't?

A. Windows CE Services 2.1 retains all the functionality of the prior version, and adds support for Windows 98, Outlook 98, and palm-size PC's.

Q. How can I upgrade Windows CE Services 2.0 to version 2.1?

A. Go to http://www.casiohpc.com/WindowsCEServicesUpgrade.html to download the upgrade. You must have Windows CE Services 2.0 already installed on your desktop PC in order to use the upgrade.
