Introduction:

Microsoft Money for Pocket PC is a good add-in to have when you are using MS Money.  It helps you to stay updated and also makes managing the finance a little more easier.  But you might face synchronization issues after installing Money for Pocket PC.  For example:

When you synchronize the line in ActiveSync containing Microsoft Money is grayed and the status displays "Attention required".
In the larger status console of ActiveSync, it says:

Microsoft Money Data: attention required Resolve items...

When you click on "Resolve items...", you might get a dialog saying:
Information Type Not Synchronized
Items of one or more information types cannot be synchronized. Disconnect and reconnect your device.
To view all error messages and dialog boxes that require your input, you must connect to this computer via infrared or serial/USB cable.
OK/Cancel

Troubleshooting:

Here are a few standard troubleshooting solutions you can try to solve most of synchronization issues:

  • Try performing a soft reset on the Pocket PC.

  • Use Repair feature in Money to eliminate any possible Money data file corruption. Refer Microsoft Knowledge Base article -182608.

  • Delete and then re-create the ActiveSync partnership.

    To delete a partnership:

    1.  Disconnect the Pocket PC from the computer.
    2.  In ActiveSync -> File -> Delete Partnership.
    3.  Connect the device and follow the onscreen instructions to setup a new
         partnership.

  • Uninstall and then reinstall Microsoft Money for Pocket PC.  You can refer to the Microsoft Money for Pocket PC downloads below to download and install the correct version.

  • If none of the solutions work, try the relatively lengthy solution:

    1.  First step is to backup your Desktop money (*.mny) file.
    2.  Create a new money file on the Desktop and try to synchronize with Money for Pocket PC.
    3.  If it synchronizes correctly, then import your backed up desktop Money file and try to synchronize once again.
You will need to import every account individually.
