MULTIMETEOR ANNOUNCES THE POCKET PC SUMMIT, THE FIRST TRADE SHOW AND CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO THE POCKET PC

Los Angeles, CA (July 12, 2001) - MultiMeteor, Inc. today announced the Pocket PC Summit, the first official conference and trade show dedicated to the Pocket PC handheld platform. The Pocket PC Summit is converging October 10 - 12, 2001 at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, California.

"The Pocket PC Summit was created in response to the overwhelming demand for the Pocket PC and the technologies surrounding this innovative mobile platform," said Mark Winstanley, Co-Founder of the Summit, "We are committed to the only handheld device that is literally changing the face of mobile computing - the Pocket PC - the only one that matters."

John Tidwell, MultiMeteor CEO, adds, "Right from the beginning, the majority of registrations online have come from corporate executives and enterprise-level developers which reveals a trend in the Pocket PC industry. Let's face it, there are other handheld devices out there, but there's no denying that the Pocket PC will dominate and proliferate at all enterprise and consumer levels in the near future."

The Pocket PC Summit will consist of three days of conference sessions focused on some of today's hottest Pocket PC and wireless topics October 10, 11 and 12, 2001. The conference sessions include Business and mCommerce, Application Development, Communications, Media Design & Entertainment, and Productivity and Usability. To compliment the conference, exhibiting companies comprised of the best the Pocket PC world has to offer will be displaying their latest handheld and wireless innovations on Friday, October 12, 2001.

With a focus on examining the Pocket PC platform and its impact on business, mobile-commerce and productivity, the Pocket PC Summit will integrate the use of handhelds into every aspect of the event, from scheduling and mobile instant-messaging to interactive presentations and collaborative roundtable discussions. Attendees will be able to experience first-hand the benefits of wireless LAN 802.11 technology on their own devices, as well as high-speed wireless connectivity through WAN networks and a variety of local wireless ISP providers. Speakers include some of the Pocket PC industry's top pioneers and developers like Chris De Herrera of CEWindows.net, Steve Bush from Brighthand, Terence Goggin from the Information Appliance Association, and Hal Goldstein, Publisher of Pocket PC magazine. Phillip Torrone, the creator of the Macromedia Flash Authoring Kit for the Pocket PC will demonstrate how to author engaging Flash content for the Pocket PC. Visionaries from The Gartner Group, Sierra Wireless and Juxt Interactive are also scheduled to participate in the conference.

"Attending the Pocket PC Summit will enable key decision-makers and developers to better realize all the ways Pocket PCs meet their needs by enhancing the productivity and profitability of their business", said Chris De Herrera, Chairman of the event Advisory Board, "The Pocket PC offers the widest range of capabilities for communicating with other systems through it's native support for Internet standard protocols, Web browsers, LAN and wireless, plus streaming media content and even Flash. Clearly the Pocket PC's capabilities in business and industry are unmatched by any other handheld PDA platform."

The first Pocket PC magazine Awards ceremony will take during the Pocket PC Summit on Friday, October 12, 2001. Companies and professionals who have helped to innovate and expand the world of Pocket PC will be honored at this prestigious ceremony. Says, Hal Goldstein, "The creativity and usefulness of hardware and software developed for Pocket PC users is truly astounding. The challenge will be to select the best of the best." Compiled with the help of Pocket PC experts the world over, the final list of nominees will be available on the Pocket PC Summit website before August 31, 2001.

The importance of the Pocket PC marketplace is underscored by an NPD Intelect study showing the handheld market has doubled since 1999 - revenues from selling such products hit $1.03 billion in 2000, more than twice the $436.5 million sold in 1999. Further, Market research firm Gartner Dataquest estimated in June 2001 that sales of the Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC handheld would reach an estimated $200 million for the quarter, far overshadowing Palm's estimated $135 million. A Gartner analyst told the Wall Street Journal that the Pocket PC powered device has proved extremely popular with corporate and enterprise level users. Compaq is just one of several manufacturers of Pocket PC powered devices.
