Updated: ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide - Synchronization Errors

If you are unable to sync the Calendar, Contacts, and Inbox but can sync files and favorites, check to make sure that the DCOM Server Process Launcher is running.  The default is to have it running and the startup type as Automatic.
