P. The batteries drain very quickly.

S. First use windows explorer to see if the file Servpak1 is in the windows directory. If it is not then you need to get the file SETUPEX.EXE from http://www.casiohpc.com site. The file is located under the Whats New category. The directions are on the site prior to downloading the file. ***Be sure to backup the file KEYBDDR.DLL in case the unit is reset.***

P. 1. CPU locks up randomly. 2. Partial/No Keyboard Entry. 3. No touch panel entry. 4. Random communication Error messages.

S. The ACL (Automatic Power On Clear) cycle may not have been done effectively before using the unit for the first time. A) Remove both the main batteries and the backup battery. B) Wait five minutes C) Load the main batteries D) Press the Reset button and confirm Welcome wizard image appears. E) Load the backup battery. Customers may be making the mistake of removing the backup battery's protection insulator prior to pressing Reset button.

P. The battery seems to drain very quickly when I use a PCMCIA modem. Unit battery life is only 12 minutes with a modem card. This is stated in the manual.

S. Remove the modem and turn the unit off. The power should return to normal. It is also recommended to use an AC adapter with the unit and a modem. You can get an adapter from Global Products at 800-633-0633 or EAI at 800-272-0272.

Q. I just installed batteries into my unit and it will not power on.

A. Make sure the two switches on the bottom of the unit are pushed together toward the Normal Operation mode.

Q. Can customers use Lithium-Ion batteries?

A. No. The factory recommends only alkaline or the Casio NiMh battery pack NH-10A, which outputs 2.4VDC at 1150mAh.

Q. Is there a substitute for the rechargeable Casio NiMh battery pack NH-10A?

A. No. These batteries are in a sealed plastic case which has special contact terminals

Q. What is battery life for the M Alkaline and NiMH?

A. Two M Alkaline batteries should provide up to 20 hours of use before replacement. The NiMH pack should provide up to 14 hours of use before re-charging is needed. If a modem is used on battery power, usage hours will vary depending on the modem and duration of the connection.

Q. Will the battery charger for the Cassiopeia recharge my rechargeable alkaline batteries?

A. No, the Battery Charger will only recharge the optional NiMH Battery Pack offered by Casio. The battery will have no affect on alkaline batteries at all.

Q. Under what conditions would the A-11 draw an amp from its AA batteries?

A. The conditions are without PC card and the back light off. Also please check that keybddr.dll patch soft has been installed.

P. Charging light on the adapter does not come on at all.

S. There are four wires that supply power to the unit. A yellow, red, white and a black. The yellow wire supplies the power to the Ni-cad battery detector circuit. If it is broken the unit will not recognize the Ni-cad and the charge will not be initiated, and the charge light will not come on.

Q. How can I check if my batteries are okay?

A. In the Control Panel under Power, the Battery tab will show the last time the batteries were replaced and how many hours and minutes the current batteries have been used. In general, you should get up to 20 hours of battery life from Alkaline and up to 14 hours between re-charging from the NiMH battery pack

Q. How can I make my batteries last longer?

A. To conserve batteries, turn off your sound, avoid letting the LED flash for long periods of time, and plug the device into AC power as much as possible.

F. Power Consumption = 3.8W
